It's strange that the central plot to one of the greatest television shows in history could be boring, but it really is. When we first encounter the White Walkers at the start of Season 1, they're shrouded in mystery and dread. As they silently move in on the Night's Watchmen, we're convinced these are unstoppable monsters. Who knew we'd basically never see them again, and when we did, they'd be hugely underwhelming? They're also indirectly responsible for many of Jon Snow's trips beyond the wall, as well as Bran's visions. Basically if they were removed from the plot, we could forget about the wall and focus on a battle for supremacy between the Lannister's, Daenerys and others. Simultaneously the most important and least important storyline on Game of Thrones, the show would function very well without them. There's also the issue that, once revealed to the viewer, they're actually quite daft looking. It's almost hilarious to imagine them wandering around King's Landing. Would they really work in that environment? Perhaps they won't get that far. It is worrying to think the pay off might not be worth all the exposition.
