To begin with, the series features a number of detestable characters who have not been featured frequently enough to warrant proper inclusion on this list, but whose actions warrant a mention. These include but are not limited to: Aerys Targaryen The Mad King. Aerys actions are only mentioned and never shown firsthand, given his death several years before the beginning of the series. Nevertheless, he is responsible for several atrocities, including burning Rickard Stark alive and having his heir Brandon watch and die himself as a result of a torture device in the process. This action was one of the catalysts for Roberts Rebellion, an uprising that saw Aerys killed by one of his Kingsguard, Jaime Lannister, after he discovered his regents plot to destroy the city of Kings Landing and everybody within it as a last resort. Walder Frey A conniving old man, Walder Frey is never one to take a slight lightly, exemplified by his cold complicity in the Red Wedding, an event that saw Robb Stark and much of his host defencelessly butchered because of Robb reneging on a marriage contract. Amory Lorch A cruel knight sworn to the Lannisters, Amory Lorch is best known for stabbing the four year old Rhaenys Targaryen fifty times during the Sack of Kings Landing, and is also responsible for an unprovoked butchering of Nights Watch men, Yoren amongst them, despite the watchs neutrality in the political machinations of the Seven Kingdoms. He eventually gets a fitting comeuppance, being slaughtered by a hungry bear at Harrenhal. Craster Though an ostensible ally of the Nights Watch, Craster is a sleazy and creepy individual who makes for uneasy company, particularly as the men of the watch have to tolerate him with the knowledge that he has any of the infant sons born to his nineteen wives (most of which are also his daughters) killed. Hizdahr zo Loraq Though his true intentions have yet to be revealed, it is heavily implied that Hizdahr is responsible for attempting to poison Daenarys Targaryen shortly after marrying her, an action he only accomplished by somehow preventing the actions of the Sons Of The Harpy, an organisation complicit in the murders of many of her followers, for ninety days, suggesting that he is part of their leadership. The Dothraki (In General) Though it is merely their culture, the Dothraki life of pillaging, raping and slaving is difficult to stomach. Khal Drogo, the first husband of Daenarys Targaryen, may have been portrayed in a more flattering light, but the likes of Mago and Jhaqo, who will return to the series in The Winds Of Winter, are written to be more clear-cut symbols of evil. Meanwhile, individuals such as Tywin Lannister, Sandor Clegane, Alliser Thorne and Theon Greyjoy have been omitted despite the severity of several of their crimes, owing to the fact that they also redeeming qualities, seek redemption or express significant remorse for their actions. Others such as Janos Slynt and Ilyn Payne are excluded because their actions, such as Ilyns beheading of Eddard Stark, are only carried out because of orders from higher authorities. Meanwhile, the likes of Littlefinger and Varys are the epitome of moral greyness, but they cannot be truly classified as antagonists at the present time and are similarly not included.
