Game Of Thrones: 9 Most Mind-Bending Character Transformations
The most surprising character developments so far.
While it's hard to argue that King Joffrey or Ramsay Snow are anything other than pure evil, most Game of Thrones characters are made up of shades of grey. There is a utilitarian undercurrent to how the characters behave, and even the best characters on the show are capable of the most awful deeds under the right circumstances. Take Ned Stark for example: in Season 1 he was the moral heart of the show, yet we are first introduced to him when he seemingly harshly beheads a Nightswatchman for desertion. In reality, that's a monstrous thing to do, but in the context of the show - where honour rules - it's understandable. Because each character is complex, and not easily defined as good or evil, it is probably more accurate to say any transformation they undergo usually happens in the mind of the viewer. Often when we are introduced to a character we are confident of their motivations, and what sort of person they're supposed to be, only for that to get flipped on its head later in the show. This list considers the characters we thought we had figured out, only for them to surprise us later down the line by transforming into something completely different.
