Game Of Thrones Season 6: All 10 Episode Ranked From Worst To Best

3. The Door

Like all of the most profoundly memorable episodes of Game Of Thrones, The Door boiled down to one moment beyond all others. It now joins the lexicon of the most brilliant, most disturbing and best made sequences in the entire show, not only explaining an enduring mystery but also leaving actual emotional wounds.

Watching Hodor's death and the simultaneous revelation of how he came to be was a truly devastating blow, and both Kristian Nairn and Sam Coleman sold the moment unbelievably well.

Elsewhere, a busy episode saw the death of the Raven, the obliteration of the Children of the Forest and lots of exposition, including Jorah once more being pushed into the friend zone, the dread pirate Euron rising to power and Bran learning he shouldn't use his powers alone. Unfortunately, it was somewhat blemished by the fact that Kinvara the red priestess was introduced and then entirely disregarded in the space of minutes.

But really, it was all about that final sequence, kicked off by Bran's idiocy (which somehow made him a good candidate to replace the Raven), and punctuated by major deaths (of Leaf and Summer) before that final, gloriously haunting full-stop.

Best Moment: "Best" is probably the wrong word, but the Hodor reveal was some truly impressive television.
