2. The Mountain
For years, the idea of Cleganebowl was nothing more than a meme, akin to the thought of Maroon 5 playing Spongebob’s Sweet Victory at the Super Bowl. A few believers had faith, but most rational people thought it was just an internet pipe dream.
However, recent seasons have brought the possibility of Cleganebowl up much higher. The Hound has been found and made his way back to the central cast, while The Mountain has gone from a symbol of Qyburn’s Frankensteinian madness to become Cersei’s fiercest - and without Jaime, only - protector. The pair even came face to face in Season 7.
The chances of them fighting are at an all time high, and this time around The Hound will surely come out on top. His time with the fire-worshipping Brotherhood Without Banners has helped him get over his fear, and even allowed him a glimpse at the future. If he puts the zombie Mountain down with flames, it would be delicious irony.
Let’s just hope that if he does, he doesn’t take off his armour to reveal a ‘California’ tattoo across his stomach.
