Game Of Thrones: 10 Best Character Pairings So Far

2. Arya Stark and Sandor Clegane

Like season three's Theon/Reek and Ramsey pairing, season four has given us the most disturbing yet engaging pairings ever in Arya and the Hound. While she was very much his captive last season, since he saved her from the horrors at The Twins they have developed into a bizarre frenemy - almost mentor - relationship. Given his past and temperament, Sandor's presence in Arya's life is ultimately a destructive one, fuelling her obsession of death that has transformed her into a killer. Recently we presented an article looking at Game of Thrones heroes that had become villains and Arya was certainly high on that list; there is no denying that she enjoys killing and Sandor's teaching is adding fuel to the fire. Arya is well and truly broken; her hysterical laugh at the gate to the Eyrie proved that when she learned yet another family member was dead. They have no one left but each other and that can be very dangerous. As with any good pairing on this list, it is all about the banter and Arya and the Hound have it by the bucket loads. It's venomous. It's aggressive. You expect them both to turn on each other at any moment. But at the same time, they share a bond now that is fascinating to watch.
