Like Charles Dance, Conleth Hill has taken a relatively background character and made him someone who ignites every scene he is in. His scheming and observations behind secret doors and empty throne rooms have made for a fascinating character and it will genuinely be a shame for the 'Spider' to lose his tete-a-tete with Littlefinger once he fleas to the Vale with Sansa. But more than that, Tyrion's escape is the last great moment for Varys to shine before his epic return at the end of A Dance With Dragons and perhaps six? Varys literally slinks into the shadows for a while and if the writers of the show want to have that stunning reveal later on, that means Varys is going to have to disappear for a while. Like Charles Dance, a lack of Conleth Hill might cause the show to have just a little less magic and there's no one coming up in the books who can truly take his place on the show. Not unless his fellow conspirator Illyrio Mopatis is expanded sufficiently to take on that devious mantle.
