The longest pilot-to-series order in the history of the franchise, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds follows the adventures of the USS Enterprise - before the arrival of Captain Kirk. Anson Mount stars as Captain Christopher Pike, Kirk's predecessor as commander of the Enterprise, boldly going in the decade before Kirk's posting.

The show was greenlit in response to audience reactions to Pike, Spock, and Number One appearing on Star Trek: Discovery (although the savvy mind suspects it had been in the works regardless).
