16. Mary Walker Was A Sokovian P.O.W.

By far the most enigmatic character this season was Mary Walker aka Typhoid Mary (Alice Eve).

She starts off the season a skittish, quirky friend of Danny Rand's (Finn Jones), before it's revealed she's a P.I. working for Joy - and a sword-totting one at that - and later that she's suffering from disassociative identity disorder and has two distinct personalities ("Mary" and "Walker").

Things take an even nuttier turn near the end of the season, when it's revealed that Walker was a soldier embedded in Sokovia, and after a mission went wrong, her entire unit was killed, while she was raped and tortured.

After this, Mary's mental disorder was triggered, causing one of her new personalities to slaughter the Sokovian soldiers and call for help. By the time she's rescued, though, Walker has no memory of the events.

Though Walker initially assumes that Mary affected her escape, it's revealed at the tail-end of the season that it was actually a third "alter" that was responsible, presumably hinting at the savage "Bloody Mary" personality from the comics.

Though Typhoid Mary's treatment was pretty sloppy this season, it sure didn't lack in the bats*** crazy, wildly WTF stakes, that's for sure.
