Whose idea was it to kill off Sigourney Weaver three-quarters of the way through the show? Yes, it was a solid surprise to kick the show into its final episodes, but it also totally wasted having such a gifted actress in the cast.

Not that Weaver was particularly well-utilized beforehand (pun intended). The early episodes do a great job of making Alexandra a sympathetic antagonist - she's an immortal who is tragically finally dying - but this is quickly chucked out the window as the nonsensical Hand plot takes over.
The only thing that ensures the character's high ranking is Weaver's sheer star presence.
