2. Altered Carbon (Anime)

Based on the visually stunning dark sci-fi series of the same name that premiered on Netflix and wowed audiences in early 2018, the Altered Carbon anime brings twofold excitement to the table, not only with the show's pedigree promising equally amazing anime visuals, but also because of the talent announced at the helm of this project.

With the show taking clear inspiration from sci-fi anime such as Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex, alongside its Western predecessor, Blade Runner, it's no surprise that the writer behind the anime that inspired The Matrix is taking the reins.

Dai Sato is also renowned for his work on hit anime such as Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and Wolf's Rain. His co-writer on the project is Tsukasa Kondo, known for his acting and writing work on several award-winning short films.

With a world strongly reminiscent, even perhaps directly inspired by, the colourful and deeply philosophical sci-fi anime of the 90s, there's a lot for sci-fi fans and anime fans alike to look forward to. Here's hoping it'll elevate the material already put to screen in the live action series.
