Finally! Pacific Rim gets a follow-up worthy of the love letter to anime that it was in the first film. The upcoming anime series is set to star two entirely new characters—an idealistic teenage boy and his naive younger sister, who are forced to pilot an abandoned Jaeger across a hostile landscape to find their parents.

Though the plot has yet to be expounded on, the talent already announced for the show is promising, with Craig Kyle—a well-known Marvel writer who worked on series such as X-Men Evolution and even the highly successful Thor: Ragnarok film, which he co-wrote with Chris Yost—and Greg Johnson, writer on multiple Marvel TV series including X-Men Evolution, as co-showrunners.

Legendary Entertainment has been listed as the show's production company, though no news as of yet has been released about the animators tapped to work on this ambitious project.
