Sherlock: 20 Easter Eggs, In-Jokes And References

By Christian Bone /

1. The Secret TARDIS

Yet out of all of these easter eggs and hidden references, the most eye-popping easily-missed detail in the series is the little-known appearance of nothing other than the TARDIS! No, really. We haven€™t made this up.

In the pre-credits sequence of The Hounds Of Baskerville, in the background, obscured by trees and only glimpsed for a second, is Doctor Who's very own time machine.

The TARDIS has appeared elsewhere in the show too. In The Empty Hearse, Anderson has pinned papers to the wall to do with his many theories on how Sherlock survived. One of them is a drawing of a TARDIS.

Other Doctor Who references include the appearance of the symbol of the alien-controlled wi-fi from Doctor Who episode The Bells Of Saint John on Sherlock€™s laptop in The Reichenbach Fall.

Basically, everyone, the Doctor Who/Sherlock crossover has already happened and you never knew about it.
