The Simpsons: 20 Greatest Couch Gags

By Joseph Dempsey /

5. Banksy

In probably one of the most controversial of Simpsons intros, ultra-mysterious street artist Banksy created a couch gag for the show back in 2010. The intro opens with the artist's tag scrawled across Springfield as Bart writes "I must not write all over the wall" on the blackboard. The gag, which lacks the humour of most intros and is itself moody and depressing, closes with a minute-long sequence showing dozens of sweatshop workers making Simpsons merchandise. Banksy was reportedly inspired to create the sequence by reports the show outsources the bulk of their animation to a company in South Korea.
