As well as paying tribute to popular music and other television series, such as Game of Thrones, The Simpsons also paid homage to another of this year's most-watched TV shows, Breaking Bad. The AMC crime drama was lampooned in a couch gag which featured Marge cooking up blue cupcakes, while Tommy James and the Shondells Crystal Blue Persuasion soundtracked her actions. Meanwhile, Homer, wearing that famous pork pie hat all Breaking Bad fans will instantly recognise, makes an appearance as a spoof of Heisenberg. To top it all off, the scenes pull back to reveal Walter White and Jesse Pinkman donned in their bright yellow labsuits watching the tribute unfold.
