Star Trek: Every Starfleet Uniform Ranked From WORST To BEST

54. Starfleet Standard Uniform - 2230s

Designed by Michael Kaplan for Star Trek, these uniforms were shown in use aboard the USS Kelvin. Four division colours were depicted: blue, greenish-gold, and grey, while the medical staff wore white. Kaplan designed these uniforms to be more form-fitting than the Enterprise-era jumpsuits (the mid-2150s uniform had not yet been designed behind the scenes.)

Kaplan added a belt to make the uniform more contemporary, though also added the Starfleet Delta (a hollow version) to the chest, as well as rank insignia on the sleeves. Black piping created a separation on the chest, similar to those uniforms that would arrive over one hundred years later, chronologically.

In Beta Canon, the uniforms of the time were closer in appearance to those that would follow in both this film and its follow-up, particularly regarding the skant. Section 31 operatives wore a uniform that was similar in structure, though abandoned any division colours, opting for a standard grey. This was depicted in the Short Trek episode The Girl Who Made The Stars.
