Star Trek: Picard - 6 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Broken Pieces'
1. Remind Me What This Show's Called Again?
For a show called Star Trek: Picard, we sure didn't get a whole lot of Picard this week. Many critics of the show seem to think we've not had a whole lot of Star Trek either (last week aside) but Patrick Stewart has at least been at the heart of everything. This week he felt like a passenger, even literally removing himself from a Captain's chair because he had no idea what he was doing.
What little screentime Stewart got was maximised, but even the story feels like it's pulling away from him now. The Federation/Romulan conspiracy goes deeper than he could possibly tackle, and now that Soji is away from the Artifact she arguably doesn't need him at all. Having him lose relevance just as the show reaches its conclusion will disappoint everyone who's still watching.
