But before Dahj meets up with Jean-Luc, attentive viewers might've noticed that she has an animate plant living in her apartment, which is surely a nod towards The Original Series episode "The Man Trap," where Sulu (George Takei) cares for a carnivorous plant named "Beauregard," which he quite rightly re-names to "Gertrude."

No word on what Dahj's plant likes to dine on, but its movements instantly conjured up memories from that Original Series episode, most certainly not accidentally.
