Disney have some huge plans for their streaming service, which is expected to roll out next year. Among the many impressive plans are a number of Marvel Cinematic Universe series, including ones focusing on Loki and Scarlet Witch, a High School Musical show, a live-action Lady and the Tramp remake and, biggest of all, a live-action Star Wars TV show.

A Star Wars series of this kind has been in various forms of development for years, with George Lucas coming close to realising it in the mid-00s with Underworld, for which around 50 scripts were written. Now Disney are actually going to accomplish it, with Jon Favreau (who has a strong track record working for the House of Mouse) the leading creative, er, force behind the project.

While there are still many details being kept under wraps for now, with production finally beginning we have had a few crucial reveals, and there's already plenty to know about the first live-action TV series set in a galaxy far, far away.

Thanks to Favreau, we now know the official title of the show - Star Wars: The Mandalorian.

It's a rather obvious one for the story, but more or less does the job, and certainly builds excitement for seeing more of the race, who are mostly known for being legendary warriors, complete with badass armour. By naming the show The Mandalorian, it immediately lets us know that Mandalore will have a major part to play in the series, and that's certainly not a bad thing.
