The Falcon & The Winter Soldier: 10 Biggest Takeaways From Episode Four
2. Captain America The Murderer
Episode four was titled 'The Whole World Is Watching', which at first could have been referencing the fact that so many people caught Bucky as the Winter Soldier on their phones in the previous episode. However, it wasn't until the final scene that the real reason behind the title became clear.
After Karli killed Lemar, John chased down one of her fellow Flag Smashers into the streets of Latvia, demanding to know where their leader was. Fuelled by the rage of losing his best friend, and the super soldier serum now flowing through his veins, John bludgeoned his enemy to death with the shield in front of an entire audience, all armed with mobile phones.
The title of the episode could be a call back to Black Panther, where T'Challa was ready to kill Ulysses Klaue in front of the South Korean public, only for Okoye to warn him that the world was watching. Even if someone had been there to warn John of the same thing, he likely wouldn't have listened, as that's clearly not the kind of man he is.
That shield represents so much to so many people, and seeing it covered in blood is one of the strangest things fans of the MCU could be shown. It's just plain wrong.
