Wed known that Joes former beau Francine was terminally ill, but it was still a WTF moment to find out that the mother of Iris (and Wally) is not long for this Earth. Joe broke the news to Iris, explaining that hed already visited Francine to say his final goodbyes and suggesting that she should visit her dying mother before its too late. Whilst Francine arrived out of the blue earlier in the season, dropping the bombshell that Joe has a son and also being revealed to have been a heroin addict, it was still a shocker to see her dying days come around so quickly.
