3. Ben Platt Is Better Than Ever

We can't talk about The Politician's successes without discussing the brilliance of the man himself.

Ben Platt commanded attention with his bold performance in the show's freshman year, holding his own against the likes of the always-brilliant Jessica Lange and a particularly strong Gwyneth Paltrow. But with the stakes that much higher in the second season, and a lot more 'real world' (if you will) to play with, the question remained if he could pull it off again.

The answer was, of course, yes.

Platt's brilliance is second-to-none. He comes to life as Payton in a way that only he could, highlighting the character's eccentricities with an enjoyably animated performance while also making the time to hold onto the subtle moments that we don't see enough of. He humanises a character who is quite frankly intolerable at times and he outshines everyone else he shares the screen with.

Well, almost everyone...
