This segment is another simple story that The Simpsons takes and makes their own. In this case it is the story of the last man on Earth.

As if seeing Homer dance around a church naked to the music of Edwin Starr wasn't enough, the mutants (freaks or monsters as Moe prefers) we see him fight aren't just nameless zombies. These are characters we've grown to love over the years, adding another level of depth to the story.

The Homega Man could easily have ended with mutants and norms getting along just as Ned suggested, yet the surprise end of The Simpsons winning the day was a welcome one, leaving the audience laughing along with them.
