10. A Rick And Jessie Fling
Though Lori's death feels like it happened many seasons ago, in terms of The Walking Deads timeline, Rick is still very freshly widowed. Like a twisted kindred spirit, Jessie now shares that pain in the wake of Petes execution. Despite putting Carl first, Rick is poised to give in to his romantic urges and has a brief relationship with Jessie.
A main character getting a pretty obviously set-up love story is hardly a spoiler but its significant for two reasons. The first, it signals Ricks character trajectory returning to normal. He once again has time for frivolities like a relationship and it speaks to the status of the group that he can seemingly relax.
Of course, he cant actually relax, and the second reason this is so important is the way Jessie dies. During the herd invasion (dont worry, well get to that) as they try to escape Alexandria, she latches onto Carl and refuses to let go as theyre overrun. Ricks solution: chop her arm off to make her stop. And were right back to classic Rick, who had a taste of the good life and realized he could never sustain it.
