9. Threat Of The Wolves/Scavengers
Throughout Season 5, we were given hints to an adversarial group called the Wolves. And though they were a new creation for the TV series, it seems fairly likely that theyll stand in for the Scavengers, a rogue group in the comics led by a man named Derek.
As the very likely human antagonist for the first half of the season, Derek makes a brief, yet meaningful appearance in the comics. Showing up at Alexandria and demanding that his group be granted entry, he threatens his way in via a hidden sniper, only for them to be out-sniped by Andrea, or in the shows case, Sasha. The significance of his death is that those fatal shots draw an immense herd of zombies to Alexandria.
The threat of the Wolves will likely last a few episodes in the early part of the year, and its more than likely that they will ultimately serve a function of uniting Alexandria against an outside force only for that false victory to be the catalyst to a subsequent defeat.
