22. Daryl Dixon

If Rick is the show's main character, then Daryl is its most beloved. The crossbow-wielding, motorcycle-riding badass with a heart of gold is one of the last surviving characters from Season 1, and has grown into one of the show's best.

He doesn't have quite the same narrative importance as Rick, and could be killed off if the writers really wanted to shock people. But given how important he is to the fanbase (and merchandising), it's difficult to see them going through with it anytime soon.
