Tara currently sits in that dangerous middle bracket: not a beloved, central figure it'd be difficult to kill off, but recognisable enough that her death would have some degree of impact.

That puts her at risk, but Tara's likely to be fine for a little while yet. The writers are clearly fond of her, since they gave us a Tara-centric episode last year, and Alanna Masterson's comic sensibilities bring some lightness and levity to an often dark, nihilistic show.
