7. What's Next For Negan?

Speaking of Negan, the big bad antagonist is free to do as he pleases now, what with him having escaped from captivity, but what will his first step be? It's a hard one to predict, but it's likely that - before he makes a decision about which side he's on - the maniacal villain will go in search of his beloved Lucille, which could well see him return to the Sanctuary.

As great as Jeffrey Dean Morgan's iteration of the comic book character is, Negan's characterisation on the TV series was akin to that of a pantomime villain, so let's hope that his time behind bars will have resulted in some strong character development. Hopefully, he'll be a changed man, and if this proves to be the case, then perhaps we might even see a softer side to the cold-blooded killer now that he's had time to reflect on all his awful decisions.

Furthermore, during the ninth season, it became apparent that Negan had struck up a friendship with Judith, and upon Judith insulting his character, he seemed a little upset, which does suggest that he may no longer be the villain he once was. It's likely that this relationship will be further explored going forward should Negan opt to remain at Alexandria.
