Mulder's trip in Babylon goes from good to bad to downright weird as he winds up a slave, whipped by a man he hates among a crowd of hooded figures with the Tower of Babylon looming in the distance. Whose bad acid trip was this based on, anyway? And just why did they think it would make a good X-Files episode? While the core concept - contacting a coma patient psychically, using mind-altering drugs - is at least interesting (it's not as if the CIA and other outfits haven't tried this stuff before, after all), the handling of it felt haphazard at best. A medical setting under a controlled environment would have been the proper start, not Fox Mulder wandering the streets stoned. Then again, it gave us a great WTF moment.
