Much like the first season, a large amount of secrecy has surrounded the actual story thats going to unfold over the eight episode run. There was talk by Pizzolatto initially of it featuring the secret occult history of the US transportation system but he has since confirmed thats been scrapped. It does, however, retain those links, with a bizarre murder, reported to occur on the eve of a major transportation deal, acting as the catalyst that brings the four lead characters together. Outside of that not much is known, and theres something to be said of not giving too much away, and keeping plenty of surprises in store. HBO execs have said that this season is more exciting, although of course they would say that, but from what we know its going to be a rather different story, yet one that manages to retain the same feel of the first season.
