In The Comics

Hal Cooper (originally called J.B. Cooper) is the pharmacist father of Betty, Polly, and Chic. He is sometimes shown to have faded blonde hair, to match his family, but other times is shown having gray hair.

In The Show

Like in certain comics, Hal Cooper in Riverdale is shown to be losing his natural hair color. In addition, he more or less has the same stocky build as he did on the page. However, while he was originally portrayed to be closer to his comic book self, an old-fashioned but understanding father, he later showed his true colors as a horribly spiteful person. Also, as opposed to his previous profession, Hal now runs the local newspaper.
