Akam's knee surgery in January unfortunately put both members of Authors Of Pain on the shelf after an odd experiment pairing Rezar with The Revival's Scott Dawson during the Royal Rumble pre-show was thankfully confined to the bin, but they've remained in status since his clearance in Msy.

The duo were unfinished and unvarnished when they disappeared, following an uneven maiden year on the main roster with different managers and a fleeting reign with the deeply damaged Raw Tag Team division, and perhaps a rethink on the gimmick is what's resulted in the company holding back on pulling the trigger yet again.

AOP needed marginal polishing upon receiving their call, but WWE instead took away manager Paul Ellering and replaced him with version of Drake Maverick's persona that literally p*ssed his pants in fear. This, surprisingly, wasn't the wild flex the duo needed to get them back on track despite odd pay-per-view wins. WWE should give them the hardest of resets on their return, 'less they fall into the big red hole masquerading as a wrestling ring once a week.
