The original Extreme Championship Wrestling used music better than any other company in the 1990's. Paul Heyman employed loud, brash metal and rock anthems to great effect, and fans lapped it up. The promotion's own title track was intoxicating, and it wasn't uncommon for ECW to use genuine songs from real-life bands to help make their product all the more exciting. During his appearance on Chris Jericho's 'Talk Is Jericho' podcast, Scott 'Raven' Levy chuckled as he recalled The Sandman's entrance. Using the Metallica track, 'Enter Sandman', Levy assessed that Sandman's entrance was better than his matches. At the very least, it was just as important to his overall character as what happened when the bell started ringing.The Sandman was in party mode every time he converged on the ring. Swigging beer and embracing fans, the guy came across as the ultimate bad ass. Enter Sandman wasn't only a logical title, it was like a concert performance every time the wrestler came through the crowd. Lyrics such as, 'Exit light, enter night' were shouted with furious volume, making the scene look like a live music video.
