Fast Lane was far from a bad show up to that point, but when Rusev and John Cena locked horns it seemed to bring the crowd in Memphis, Tennessee to life. Obviously, Cena is far from a favourite amongst many adult pro wrestling fans, but few can deny that the guy didn't put in a shift here. There was a lot to like about Rusev vs. Cena, not least the fact that the former left with his United States Championship reign still in tact, and a submission victory over WWE's poster boy to his name. This was a big night for Rusev, who had a lot to prove, and he looked every bit the top heel that the company would love him to be. Even though Lana got involved, distracting the ref and allowing for a low blow on Cena, Rusev's win came across as pretty clean, which is a major positive. It's fair to imagine a lot of people felt another 'Super Cena' performance was right around the corner, but it wouldn't have achieved much to put the US Title on him. A rematch is likely, as is a Cena victory in that return bout, but here, Rusev was king.
