Any sort of dancing gimmick in wrestling can be successful, whether the worker is a face or a heel. As faces, they can be fun "comic relief", of sorts, able to get families involved in the action. As heels, they can be great annoyances, able to get heat from choosing to dance more than they choose to wrestle. As someone portraying a disco-loving dancer in the late-1990s, they should be able to attract a lot of heat, as disco hadn't been worth a damn in 20 years at that point. Disco Inferno was annoying, that's for sure, and from all accounts that have come out in the years since WCW's demise, that annoyance was felt by wrestling fans as well as his co-workers, many of whom haven't had many flattering things to say about him. For all of the annoyances that he caused during promos and backstage segments, he did nothing but cause nap time to hit wrestling fans when they watched him wrestle. He just never really got out of first gear, so to speak, even though the company tried and tried to push him, giving him different directions to take. Nothing quite worked out for him.
