10 Best Chokeslams In Wrestling History

6. Akira Taue

Legendary Japanese wrestler Akira Taue is on this list for a different reason compared to the others. While his take on the regular version of the Chokeslam, i.e. the single neck grab followed by a lifting forward slam, was really good, especially considering the Chokeslam has rarely been seen in Japanese wrestling, Taue invented several different ways to Chokeslam people. Not only did Taue use the standard Chokeslam (or Nodowa Otoshi) variation, he also used it from a hip toss, from the top rope, in combination with a German Suplex (tag team move), as part of the Doomsday device tag team move, from a belly-to-back Suplex, and from a vertical Suplex. Clearly, the man knew how to use the Chokeslam in a myriad of different situations, almost as if he could execute the Chokeslam€out of nowhere. It€™s a pity that Chokeslam variations like these haven€™t been seen outside of Japan. In fact, Taue is the only wrestler in the entire world who has used some of these moves, which is an even bigger disappointment because it would be very interesting to see Chokeslam variations as unique as these in a WWE ring.
