10 Best One-Liners From WWE Raw This Week (Aug 8)
Doctors orders, Rollins' new gimmick, and a note on Lesnar's training regime...
After the WWE Draft breathed fresh life into Monday Night
Raw, part of me is expecting the wheels to fall off just about any minute now. But
thankfully, I feel like that part of me is going to be waiting an awfully long
time, because once again we had another satisfying showing on Raw this week.
Sure, it wasn’t the greatest episode we’ve ever seen, but it was by no means a bad one. And while it may have been somewhat lacking in terms of its in-ring offering, there was lots more going on throughout the course of the evening.
With SummerSlam right around the corner, we saw plenty of
promos and some cool sit-down interviews, a very expert evaluation from Dr
Gallows and Dr Anderson, and—wait for it—a confident Roman Reigns performance
on the mic.
In fact, there was so much going on that for the first time in a while, Enzo Amore hasn’t made this week’s list of the very best one-liners from Monday Night Raw.
Stick around for the following ten slides as we find out which
quotes and quips edged out Smacktalker Skywalker.
10. "I'm Just Giving Him Encouragement"
After last week appearing on the commentary team, this week
Kevin Owens was a little closer to the action as he made his way to ringside to
support his new best bud, Chris Jericho.
But he didn’t let the lack of a headset stop him from getting a word in edgeways.
With Jericho laying a beating on his opponent for the night, Enzo Amore, Owens saw it necessary to turn the tables on the “hip hop hobbit” and ask him how he was doing. Keen to retain order, referee Chad Patton stepped in to remind Owens to keep his distance, prompting the culprit to suggest he was simply offering Enzo some words of encouragement.
Not necessarily the most uproarious of comments, but it was yet another of Owens’ trademark wisecracks that helps make his character such an effective heel.
And with the Jeri-KO tandem now seemingly becoming a rather more permanent fixture, we can expect plenty more of this kind of banter in the coming weeks and months.
