10 Best WCW Moments Ever
10. Booker T's Joy Saves Bash At The Beach
Initially a tag-team star with his brother Stevie Ray, Booker T won a record-setting 10 WCW World Tag-Team Titles whilst working as one half of Harlem Heat. After going solo in late-1997, Booker nestled snugly into the mid-card scene. Even then, it was obvious that he could have done more.
Held back due to the fact that WCW had so much star power (there was no way Booker was getting ahead of guys like Hollywood Hogan, with his creative control clause, Goldberg, Sting, Randy Savage and others), the guy finally won the WCW Title in the Summer of 2000. Incredibly, his big title win came about due to a worked shoot between Vince Russo and Hulk Hogan.
In the main event of Bash At The Beach 2000, Booker beat Jeff Jarrett for the title. It's a damning verdict of WCW's latter output that this is the only moment considered from 2000-2001. Booker deserved to be crowned champ though.
Saving the entire pay-per-view, his spirited performance and genuine joy upon winning the title put a smile on fan faces again. Finally, they had someone who looked like he really valued being champion.
