10 Best WCW Video Games

8. WCW The Main Event

WCW The Main Event is to date the only WCW game ever released on the Nintendo Gameboy, and let's be honest, that's one fact which isn't changing any time soon! The title may look really very basic, but for a Gameboy release, actually has some decent graphics. Released in 1994 for the system, The Main Event is a pretty standard affair, but does do wrestling well on the aging handheld format. Somewhat impressively, there are nine different WCW stars to choose from, including the likes of Steve Austin, Sting and even Dustin Rhodes. Confusingly, The Steiner Brothers are represented, even though they were WWF employees at the time. There's no music in the game, meaning fans are not treated to those ear-troubling 8-bit midi renditions of the entrance themes, but the action is fast-paced and has a nice arcade feel to it. One of the absolute best loser animations in wrestling videogame history occurs here - should you be defeated, your wrestler is hauled out of the ring by medics, which is pretty funny, and shows there was a bit of thought going into this one.
