10 Best WWE Money In The Bank Cash-Ins Ever
4. Rob Van Dam - ECW One Night Stand 2006
Rob Van Dam has never been one for the orthodox, so it was perfectly fitting that he decided he was going to cash-in his opportunity in his own time and on his own terms. In May 2006, with ECW’s One Night Stand pay-per-view just weeks away, RVD announced that he would be claiming his shot at John Cena’s WWE Championship at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
The logic behind this was that Van Dam would have plenty of support on his side and, of course, he wasn’t wrong: the ECW crowd was one of the most hostile in history, bombarding Cena with abuse and expletives as they urged RVD on.
After interference from Edge, and with a huge helping hand from Paul Heyman, their commitment paid off and RVD’s hand was raised in victory. The WWE went on to dub Van Dam the new ECW (not WWE) Champion, but still, it made for a truly memorable affair and an entertaining throwback to the ECW days of old.
