10 Best WWE Pay-Per-Views Of The Past Decade
9. WrestleMania XXXI
On paper, WrestleMania XXXI looked like a relatively weak card. The main event featured a babyface challenger whom the fans hated, and the most-hyped match on the show was between two middle-aged men with a particularly manufactured-seeming animosity.
In actuality, the show became one of the most acclaimed WrestleManias ever. It started out with an exciting seven-way ladder match that saw fan favourite Daniel Bryan capture the Intercontinental Title, then went straight into a Seth Rollins-Randy Orton bout that boasted one of the most shocking finishes in company history.
A hot Tag Team Title match on the pre-show and a strong John Cena-Rusev U.S. Title bout rounded out a solid undercard.
The real news, though, was the main event. Even though fans were firmly behind Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns fought his heart out to take it to "The Beast" in hard-hitting contest. He looked to be the first man in a long time to give Lesnar real trouble, and when neither man would relent, the unthinkable happened: Rollins ran to the ring with his Money in the Bank briefcase, cashed it in, and joined the match, making it a triple threat bout.
The relatively fresh star was able to hit Reigns with the Curb Stomp and pin him for the title, leaving everyone stunned.
