10 Biggest Missed Opportunities From The Undertaker's WWE Career

2. Retiring With The Streak Intact

The longer that The Streak continued on for, the more it looked it was never going to be broken. However, there were those who were convinced that it was only continuing on for so long so that it could ultimately be snapped when The Deadman decided to retire.

That's one of the many reasons why we were so caught off-guard by the suddenness of Brock Lesnar's victory over 'Taker at WrestleMania XXX - because, unlike previous years, there were no rumors suggesting that the 2014 collision would be the legend's final match.

Lesnar breaking The Streak allowed The Beast to continue that upward trajectory he was already on. He didn't really need the win and we didn't need to witness that match - same goes for Roman Reigns' WrestleMania victory over 'Taker three years later - but, look, it is what it is.

But what if it didn't happen? What if The Deadman bested The Beast and The Streak continued to enhance his WrestleMania matches on a yearly basis (even the lacklustre ones) following that? What if he announced his retirement after reaching 27-0 at this year's Showcase of Immortals (instead of 25-2)?

The Undertaker retiring with The Streak intact may seem like a cop-out to some, but it would have been a reward that the man Michael Cole called "the greatest performer in WrestleMania history" certainly deserved - one that highlighted why he was worthy of such a title.
