10 Biggest Mysteries Still Surrounding WrestleMania 33
10. Will There Even Be A Tag Title Match?
WWE haven’t exactly done a great job of making their tag team divisions feel important lately.
On SmackDown, American Alpha aren’t even guaranteed more than five minutes of weekly airtime, and their credibility is non-existent as a result. On Monday nights, meanwhile, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows have seen their credibility gradually eroded by months of poor booking, and appear to have fallen into a new role as Roman Reigns’ personal punchbags.
The SmackDown and Raw Tag Team Titles are among the company’s most worthless belts at the moment, and neither set feels like a legitimate prize. There has been no word on WWE’s plans for the divisions at WrestleMania 33 thus far. With the rumoured card growing by the day, this is a worrying sign for the company’s beleaguered tandems.
There might not even be a spot for them if things continue as is, but this shouldn’t be a huge surprise. There was no tag title match on last year’s card, and if the current champions do end up making the event, they might have to settle for the Kickoff Show. American Alpha vs. The Usos seems a likely direction for SmackDown, but their spot is far from guaranteed - and there’s absolutely nothing in the pipeline for Anderson & Gallows at the moment.
