10 Biggest Rebels In WWE History

2. Degeneration-X

D-Generation X may have become the corporate interpretation of rebelliousness over the past few years but that is not how the faction began. Indeed, Shawn Michaels and Triple H caused more problems for WWE than what anyone during the Attitude Era was willing to admit. DX did what they wanted, when they wanted to do it. They pushed the envelope on live TV, they spat in the face of tradition in the business and they had a blast doing it. Despite whether or not Vince McMahon loved the idea initially, the fact is that it worked on every level. Fans gravitated toward DX. Hunter and Shawn tapped into something very primal within the crowd; the need to let go of normality and just have the freedom to be yourself. It was okay to have fun, it was perfectly fine to cut loose and have a laugh. It was also more than acceptable to throw a crotch chop to the system that told everyone to stay in line and do as they were told. DX made it cool to be crazy and they were loved for it. They were so good and so entertaining that they turned the very idea of being a rebel into a mainstream concept in the industry. Who would want to be Bret Hart and the Hart Foundation when they could be Shawn Michaels and D-Generation X? That was the impact they had and the legacy they leave behind is one of outlandish humor, creative freedom and just an overall sense of fun. DX rebelled against the establishment until they became the establishment; they are perhaps the best example of rebels winning in the end.
