10 Biggest Rebels In WWE History

By Tom Clark /

3. CM Punk

Fans knew that CM Punk was talented; he had already been the World Heavyweight Champion and had epic rivalries with guys like Jeff Hardy and The Undertaker. The WWE faithful were very aware of what Punk could do both in the ring and on the mic and he was respected in many circles for his contributions to the company. When he sat cross legged on the Raw stage back in 2011, he reminded fans of just how good he really was. He also lit the fuse on a stale career that was failing to impress anyone, even the boss that paid him for his work. Punk took a simple promo and turned the world upside down and in that moment, he became the biggest rebel that fans had seen since The Texas Rattlesnake. Punk was the antihero, the man that openly defied Vince McMahon and everyone that sought to hold authority over him. In a company full of Superstars that seemed more than happy to just go with the flow, Punk was the lone voice of dissension in the room. He was the guy in the corner smiling and shaking his head at every edict that was handed down from corporate. Punk was so good at being Stone Cold that he was arguably even better on any given day. That is how believable Punk was and how realistic the situation was that he found himself in. Punk was the heel that everyone loved to hate but he became the rebel that fans could not get enough of. He rallied them to his side and they stayed there to the bitter end. The Summer of Punk, the Voice of the Voiceless, The Best in the World; CM Punk saw every high that being a top draw could bring and he capitalized on every moment of it. Punk was the rebel with a cause and that is what his WWE legacy will hopefully be.
