10 Biggest Regrets From Goldberg's WWE Career
10. His Summerslam 2021 Match With Bobby Lashley
Goldberg’s SummerSlam clash with Bobby Lashley was one of his longest bouts since his 2016 return, but you don’t get your money’s worth out of Goldberg by putting him in longer, competitive matches. At under seven and a half minutes, this still wasn’t exactly Omega/Danielson but, winning or losing, Bill works best in short, sharp bomb fests.
Goldberg was still objectively a draw at this point and not a bad scalp for a WWE champion to claim but equally a large section of the fanbase were tiring of his returns after a couple of dud matches. Big Bill clearly felt he had something to prove.
Bobby doesn’t come with similar baggage but neither man came out of the bout looking great. Lashley did his best to help Goldberg look like the monster of old but at one point looked scarily close to breaking his neck for his troubles. MVP’s interference made Lashley look like he couldnt get the job done. Meanwhile, the referee stoppage made Goldberg look like an old man who can no longer cut it.
The pair would somewhat redeem themselves with a Saudi Arabian rematch but even then it was more a case of, “What a relief” rather than, “what a thrill.”
