Sheamus? More like Lame-us! Ay fella, do you want to go grab a pint with Sheamus after the show and talk about how much he likes a good fight? No, thats absolutely something I dont want to do at all. Now to be fair, Sheamus wasnt a bad heel, but hes pretty mediocre (at best) as a babyface. His cornball humor just doesnt translate very well into getting fans to cheer him. While WWE seemed to have plans to push him as their No. 2 babyface a couple years ago, hes quietly been sliding down the card lately. Sheamus isnt a bad wrestler in the ring by any means. Hes capable of putting on hard-hitting matches with a variety of opponents. But hes been overexposed to ridiculous levels these past few years. Counting his Raw and SmackDown matches, weve seen him wrestle in over 300 matches (stats via profightdb.com). Thats a lot of Brogue Kicks since he debuted in mid-2009! Then throw in 48 pay-per-views matches he wrestled in, meaning weve paid to watch him more than we ever did for Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall or Trish Stratus! Sheamus desperately needs to turn heel to prevent becoming staler. Hes 36-years-old, so its extremely likely that hes already peaked as a face. With a turn, though, he could face Cena again, Daniel Bryan when he returns, and Roman Reigns. That sounds a lot better than hearing him talk about grabbing a pint from here to eternity.
