And why does the man that conquered the wrestling world, and made his fortune off of it, hate the term professional wrestling so much? Does the boss actually think sports entertainment is a better way to describe what he promotes for a living? He should go to Wikipedia and type in that term to see what other classy events are classified as sports entertainment. Therell youll see: monster trucks, competitive eating, the Harlem Globetrotters and beer pong. So when The Rock says hes the most electrifying man in sports entertainment, hes not only competing with wrestlers, hes also competing against the top athletes who throw ping pong balls into beer. Does that make him sound more important? This awful term has been around for years, but have you ever heard anyone say theyre a fan of sports entertainment? Or do they say that the like wrestling? Its always, always wrestling! It also sounds wonky when Vince makes his announcers retcon old wrestlers and storylines, and have his announcers say things like Bruno Sammartino was a great sports entertainer. Thats not what he did! He was a wrestler! Well, McMahon has been trying to get this to catch on for years now with no success, but dont expect him to give up anytime soon.
