This most recent instance took place at the start of September when the WWE were insistent on plugging the fact that you could order the WWE Network for just $9.99. In a tongue in cheek reference to this unabashed advertising, one fan produced a sign reading I could be at home watching Nitro for $9.99 and was promptly thrown out for his efforts. The fan took to Reddit in a foulmouthed tirade, labelling the company bullies amongst other things. But over the coming days the plot thickened. Others on Reddit and Twitter chimed in with their own accounts, and revealed that the ejected fan has claimed to be both high and drunk and that he was ruining the experience for everyone. Thus it looks like the WWEs actions were completely justified in this instance. And although on many occasions officials appeared to go too far, the bottom line is that its their product and their duty to protect that. If fans are trying to belittle or undermine that then given the fact that the WWE has full creative control over its programming, its arguably okay for them to censor certain signs. It appears that the real issue rests in their management of the situation though. If they wish to remove signs as they chose then it really should be stated somewhere on the ticket. And furthermore, they need to stop propagating the fact that the WWE Universe has the right to say what they please. The WWE hosts the show, and that gives them the right to make the rules. But it also gives them a responsibility to be transparent with their fans and say it like it is. Failure to do that could alienate more fans, and rather than them doing the ejecting themselves, the audience may do so of their own volition. Please feel free to chime in with your thoughts on this one. Are the WWE right to censor the views of fans? Or should they allow spectators to say, chant and display whatever they chose?
