From "not so homosexuals" to the real deal... Darren Young came out and told the world that he was gay in summer of 2013 right before WWE's huge annual event, SummerSlam. Unlike the angle perpetrated by Billy and Chuck, Darren Young did not do this as a part of a storyline. This was real. He broke down barriers and became the first openly gay pro wrestler to be signed to a major promotion. Of course it didn't take long for a backlash to begin in some quarters. The people over at the Westboro Baptist Church stated that they would picket Darren Young at WrestleMania shortly after his announcement; not realizing that WrestleMania was just about 8 months away. Thankfully Young's sexuality soon became old news and everyone got on with their lives.
